Our Tofino, B.C. saltwater fishing charters for Salmon and Halibut are the most popular charters that we offer. You can choose from half day to full day trips as well as multi day fishing and accommodation packages for groups of all sizes. We also offer shared fishing charters for single anglers looking to split the costs of a trip with others and share the great experience it offers.
For a memorable adventure while staying in the Tofino and Ucluelet area, head out aboard one of Clayoquot Venture’s professionally guided and fully certified offshore fishing vessels, in search of chrome bright Chinook (King) and Coho (Silver) Salmon as well as powerful bottom fish like Halibut and Lingcod, which make up the bounty of this spectacular fishery just a short distance from the dock. Your private charter allows us to tailor your trip to your needs based on your comfort levels, experience and interests on the water.
The two main species of salmon we see in Tofino are the Chinook and Coho Salmon, while Sockeye and Pink salmon are sometimes caught offshore during cyclical runs. Chinook average in the 10-20 lb range while 30+ lbs Chinook, better known as “Tyees” are not uncommon during peak season. Coho salmon average in the 6-12lb range and can make for an exciting and testy battle, as these fish are aggressive feeders and often like to showcase their acrobatic abilities trying to spit the hook.
Offshore Halibut and Lingcod Fishing
While it is not uncommon to catch halibut while trolling for salmon, jigging and bottom bouncing with soft plastics and bait such as octopus, squid, and salmon bellies are the most common techniques used when fishing for halibut in the Tofino and Ucluelet areas. With an average size of 18-45 lbs. and many fish larger, we approach our Halibut fishery with gear that is light enough for a great fight, but strong enough to ensure that you are on the winning end of the battle. Fighting belts are always ready for those that need the extra support.
Lingcod/ Rockfish Fishing
With Lingcod in the 10-15lb range on average and Rockfish in the 3-8 lb range, this type of fishing is always full of exciting action. Jig and bottom bounce the underwater rock pinnacles and reefs situated all the way across the coast where these opportunistic feeders like to wait for an easy meal to drift by their face. Just make sure you’re holding on tight in case you hook a halibut!
